Simple Solution All Natural Pet Stain and Odor Remover

I recently had the pleasure of testing out a great product for removing pet stain and odors – Simple Solution. It is an all-natural solution that uses enzymes and bacteria to eat away the stains your pet can leave on the carpet. The all-natural solution is very easy to use and has a great smell – nothing chemically at all.

To use the product, all you have to do is dab an excess moisture from the accident site, then apply the solution. Leave the solution on the spot for 10-15 minutes, dab any extra off and then let the product dry naturally (this will take about 24-48 hours). What you are left with is a spot that does not smell like urine – this is especially important because your dog will be able to smell the ammonia left behind – a scent that could be trapped deep down in the carpeting – and she will return to the same spot to potty. I found the Simple Solution product very easy to use and it worked wonderfully!

Another product they gave me to test out was their all-natural sweet almond scented pet shampoo. This was also a very great product. Maggie smelled so good after her bath and her coat was extra shiny and very soft. The soap had a very rich lather and was easy to work into her rough coat. It was also easy to rinse out and I found that Maggie held that great smell longer than with other dog shampoos I have used in the past.

Simple Solution is a great company with very environmentally friendly products that are great for your pets! Dogs like to sniff around and lick the ground, and I have always been worried about Maggie ingesting harmful chemicals – but Simple Solution’s natural products do not contain harsh chemicals, so they are perfectly safe to use around your pets.

    National Dog Bite Prevention Week

Did you know that 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs each year? Almost one in five of those who are bitten: a total of 885,000: require medical attention for dog bite-related injuries. In 2006, more than 31,000 people underwent reconstructive surgery as a result of being bitten by dogs. These statistics are shocking and scary, but this is an issue that must be acknowledged in order make dog bites less likely.

In light of National Dog Bite Prevention Week May 17-23, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) provided some beneficial information that will help readers and their children stay safe and protected from dangerous dog behavior.

    Who is most at risk?

    • Children: Children around 5 to 9 years are more likely than adults to receive medical attention for dog bites.
    • Adult Males: Among adults, males are more likely than females to be bitten.
    • People with dogs in their homes: As the number of dogs in the home increases, so does the incidence of dog bites. Adults with two or more dogs in the household are five times more likely to be bitten than those living without dogs at home.

How to avoid the purchase or adoption of a violent dog

    • If you have children, steer clear of dogs with histories of aggression – chances are they are not suitable for your household.
    • Be sensitive to cues that a child is fearful or apprehensive about a dog.
    • Spend time with a dog before buying or adopting it.

    Safety tips for children

    • Do not approach an unfamiliar dog.
    • Do not run from a dog or scream.
    • Remain motionless (e.g., “be still like a tree”) when approached by an unfamiliar dog.
    • If knocked over by a dog, roll into a ball and lie still (e.g., “be still like a log”).
    • Do not play with a dog unless supervised by an adult.
    • Immediately report stray dogs or dogs displaying unusual behavior to an adult.
    • Avoid direct eye contact with a dog.
    • Do not disturb a dog that is sleeping, eating, or caring for puppies.
    • Do not pet a dog without allowing it to see and sniff you first.
    • If bitten, immediately report the bite to an adult.

    Be Kind to Animals Day

Be Kind to Animals Day is one of the oldest events in the nation that celebrates the unique companionship, friendship and love that animals bring into our lives. This pet observance is the perfect time to recognize and appreciate the tireless efforts of our animal shelters and pet welfare organizations. This is also the opportune time to get involved by volunteering or making a contribution to your favorite shelter or rescue group. Every year, an estimated 3.7 million animals must be euthanized at our nation’s shelters because they could not be adopted into loving homes. We can help provide our nation’s homeless pets a second chance at happiness by adopting from a shelter or local rescue group.

In addition to adopting a pet from the shelter you can:

    •  Volunteer at the shelter
    •  Donate food, toys or bedding to your local shelter
    •  Keep your pet current on vaccinations
    •  Spay or neuter your pet
    •  Make sure your pet is micro-chipped or wearing identification tags
    •  Instill attitudes of kindness, consideration and respect for all animals

Be Kind to Animals Day also reminds us of the care and love our pets need to help keep them healthy and safe throughout their lives. Take your pet to the veterinarian regularly, know what it takes to be a responsible pet owner, and pamper your pet! What pet doesn’t love to be pampered? Pet owners really treasure their furry friends and yearn to make their lives as comfortable as possible.

Kindness should include the way you treat animals and all living things, so make every day Be Kind to Animals Day!

Are Training Pads Just for Puppies?

Written By: Dan Stein with DogGuide.net

“Puppy Pads”, as they’re commonly referred to, are absorbent pads that are usually used during the early stages of housebreaking a young puppy. However, here are 4 alternate uses for these pads.

    Convalescing Pets:
Animals recovering from surgery often have incisions that need to be kept as clean as possible. We want our pets to be comfortable as they heal, so covering a freshly washed dog bed with absorbent puppy pads will enable you to change out the covering as needed and keep your pet’s environment as hygienic as possible.

    Meal Areas:
Some breeds are prone to drool and slobber while eating. Other dogs are just messy eaters, scattering their food around their dining area. Unlike placemats, training pads are absorbent and will keep any unwanted liquid off your floor. Place one underneath water and food dishes for a tidier mealtime.

    Elderly Dogs:
As dogs age they often loose control of their bladders. Even the most housebroken of dogs may find themselves having accidents. We all want to keep our pets comfortable in their Golden years and in this case, Jump Start Training Pads are a great solution! They have a special Add-A-Pad strip that allows you to customize the number of pads used to fit the size of your dog. If you have a large breed, just add on another pad or 2 to provide your dog a larger space.

    Kennel Liners:
Jump Start Training pads have 2 adhesive strips to keep them in place, thus they make ideal liners for kennels used for traveling. They’ll let your dog travel in comfort and you won’t be dreading the mess that could await you when you reach your destination.

Weather you will be using Training pads to aid you in housebreaking a new puppy or in one of these less conventional ways, these covenant pads will make life easier for you (and your floors will thank you too!).
