Prepping Your Home for the Holidays

The most important part of the holiday season is sharing and celebrating with the ones you love. Hosting a gathering of family and friends for the holidays at the house may seem overwhelming, especially if you own a pet, but there are several ways to keep your household preparation simple so you can fully enjoy all the season has to offer.

    Control Pet Hair

Controlling pet hair and dander can be a big chore, but it’s a necessary obligation – especially if some family members and friends are allergic to pets. So what is the best way to clean up pet hair off wood floors and leather furniture without just moving in around into the air to settle back later? Simple Solution® Pet Hair & Lint Remover helps release and gather pet hair and makes it easy to wipe away. It’s also washable and reusable.

Using a ’shedding comb’, which is available at most pet stores, takes out the dead and loose hairs helping to lessen shedding. Try to always groom your pet outside to ensure it doesn’t end up in the house!

Sometimes, ridding your house of pet hair completely seems nearly impossible. Simple Solution® Allergy Relief for Pets helps to reduce dander and other allergens that cause people to have allergic reactions around dogs. Applying the product to the dog as directed, will help relieve the potential for an allergic reaction.

    Revive your Carpet

If the carpeting in your living room is looking a bit tired and stained, revive the room with a reputable carpet-cleaning product. After all, your carpet is a key decorative item and you want it to look spic and span when your guests arrive for the holidays. Simple Solution® Stain and Odor remover completely eliminates all organic stains and odors and combines advanced cleansers with beneficial bacteria and enzymes strengthening the effectiveness of the solution. Because this product is organic, non-toxic and harmless to people and pets, it is safe to use not only on carpets, but on upholstery, pet bedding, clothing, tile, concrete, brick and any other water-safe surface.

If you are looking to give the entire carpet a facelift, you can do the job of a professional for a fraction of the cost. Simple Solution® Carpet Shampoo is formulated with the same advanced cleansers used by professional carpet cleaners and deep cleans and helps renew carpet and fabric color. This low-foaming concentrate works great!

    Celebrate Your Pet This Thanksgiving

As pet lovers, we all know the joy that a pet can bring into our lives. As loyal companions, our furry friends add richness to our days as they play at our feet and snuggle with us on the couch. We often find ourselves talking about our pets with our friends, sharing laughter as we reminisce their adorable moments. Our pets are surely something to be thankful for.

This Thanksgiving, express thanks and gratitude to your beloved pet for their support and care by indulging in an activity that your pet loves or spoiling them with a few gifts.

For example, long autumn walks are particularly enjoyable for dogs. The cool weather is invigorating and spending time with you is the ultimate present for every dog.

Surprising your pet with a heated dog or cat bed is a great way to show you care. As winter settles in around the country, a warm bed to cozy-up in will be a huge hit.

If you plan to travel for the holidays, there are several accessories for the road that will make your pet’s travel more enjoyable – and yours too! There are many cute totes and crates available for traveling in style.

If you’re visiting family or friends, don’t forget to bring along a pet specific stain and odor remover for accidents. Also, keep in mind that some cities ticket if you don’t pick up after your pet – up to $150, so make sure you have pick-up bags with you, such as Bags on Board® Dispensers .

Another great way to express your gratitude is by treating your dog to a day spa experience with cleansing and pampering. Simple Solution® Pet Bathing Shampoo is a wonderful product that cleans and conditions your pet’s coat with all natural ingredients and no harsh preservatives. Ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Vitamin E and Pro Vitamin B-5 leave your dog with luxurious fur that is clean and soft.

For cats, Simple Solution® has created bathing wipes with chamomile aromatics to provide a calm and soothing bathing experience. No water or rinsing needed. Spoil your cat with a nice oatmeal moisturizing wipe or an allergy & shed relief wipe that helps reduce non-productive shedding and pet allergens.

Celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday with your favorite furry companion and shower them with not only gifts but gratitude and love!

    TURKEY LOAF

The Daily Woof has posted a recipe for a wonderful turkey loaf that is easy to prepare and nutritious for your pet. In a large bowl mix ground turkey, vegetables, garlic powder, egg, barley and oats and press the mixture to flatten and level in a loaf pan. Pour the gravy over the loaf and bake in a preheated oven at 350° for one hour. Let the loaf cool, than break the loaf into bite-size pieces for your pet.

    TURKEY JERKY

If you are wondering what to do with all that leftover food from the Thanksgiving holiday and have turkey to spare, turn it into a tasty treat for your pet. It is a great way to avoid waste and your pet will love you for it.

For tasty Thanksgiving Turkey Jerky, take about 12 strips of dark turkey meat and bake in an oven set to 300 degrees for three hours. Wait until your turkey is completely dry then remove and place strips in an airtight container or place in the freezer.

These tasty recipes make wonderful treats and you can even preserve these treats for holiday gift giving!

    Fighting Seasonal Allergies

What Pet Owners Need to Know for this Fall/Winter Season

Allergies change with the seasons and as we transition from fall to winter, it is important to understand and recognize allergic symptoms pets may experience during this season. Believe it or not, one of the most common pet health issues is irritation of the skin caused by allergic reactions, itching, and hot spots/raw skin. As the weather changes to cold, crisp temperatures your pet’s skin may become dry and itchy. The best way to determine whether a pet suffers from a skin allergy is observe where they scratch the most. If they tend to itch around the tail area, the irritation may be due to flea allergies. If you notice itching on the belly or along their body, the cause is likely an air-borne allergy, such as pollen. Other signs of allergies include scratching, chewing at paws or legs, scabby skin, licking fur, rubbing their face on the ground and watery eyes.

So what can be done to help you furry friend with allergies this season? Owners can treat symptoms with medications and natural formulations such as Veterinarian’s Best® Itch Relief Hot Spot Treatments. Unlike typical pharmaceutical treatments for itchy skin that contain cortisone, alcohol and steroids that often times further irritate the tender skin, Veterinarian’s Best® Itch Relief Hot Spot Spray contains quality ingredients like Tea Tree Oil, smoothing Aloe Vera and Chamomile that heal and condition the skin, providing immediate relief to rejuvenate the skin.

This fall and winter season when you are considering a medication to help soothe your pet’s allergies, consider a holistic medicine. For more information on natural treatments for the most common pet ailments click here.
